JAN 25 & 26: GREGORY THE THEOLOGIAN BISHOP & 36TH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST

JAN 25: VESPERS – 4:00 PM; JAN 26: DIVINE LITURGY – 11:00 AM; AGAPE REPAST; SPANISH LITURGY – 2:00 PM.

On Jan 25th we commemorate St. Gregory the Theologian (also known as Gregory of Nazianzus), Archbishop of Constantinople, a great Father and teacher of the Church, was born into a Christian family of eminent lineage in the year 329, at Arianzos (not far from the city of Cappadocian.) He is widely considered the most accomplished rhetorical stylist of the time. He made a significant impact on the shape of Trinitarian theology among both Greek- and Latin-speaking theologians, and he is remembered as the “Trinitarian Theologian”. Much of his theological work continues to influence modern theologians, especially in regard to the relationship among the three Persons of the Trinity.  In the Eastern Catholic Churches he is revered as one of the Three Holy Hierarchs, along with Basil the Great and John Chrysostom.
