DEC 6: 28TH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST, FEAST OF ST. NICHOLAS OF MYRA ARCHBISHOP, VISIT FROM ST. NICHOLAS, AND POTLUCK LUNCHEON

DEC 6: CONFESSION – 8:30 – 8:55 AM, DIVINE LITURGY – 9:00 AM (LIVE-STREAMED); VISIT FROM ST. NICHOLAS AND POTLUCK LUNCHEON – 10:12 AM; DIVINE LITURGY – 11:00 AM.

NOTE: Today is also the Feast of St. Nicholas of Myra Archbishop and there will be a visit from St. Nicholas for the children today. Please see previous POST about St. Nicholas.

We have two Gospel Readings today. The first Gospel Readings for this Sunday is Luke 17: 12-19 – The Healing of the Ten Lepers, and the second  Gospel Reading is for the Feast of St. Nicholas and it is Luke 6:  17-23, which is summarized in the post about St. Nicholas.  The first Gospel story, Luke 17: 12-19, makes two points. First, what true faith really is and the unfaithfulness of the Jews. Second, and the most obvious, we should for all things, give thanks to God, especially when we are given great gifts.  Only one man gave thanks to God for the great gift he was given, his healing from leprosy.
