Today we commemorate, Porcopius, Venerable Confessor, who was a monk and ascetic from Decaplis. He lived during the eighth century east of Lake Galilee in the area of Decaplis. Both he and St. Basil rose up against the Iconoclast heresy that occured during that time. He was ordered arrested by emperor Leo the Isaurian and was scourged and imprisoned. He and St. Basil remained there until the death of the emperor, and thus were set free. After being freed, Saint Procopius spent the rest of his life peacefully by guiding followers in goodness and redemtion. He died in the year 750 of old age.
