The feast is celebrated on the 40th day after Pascha, commemorating the Ascension of Christ into Heaven and His completion of the work for our redemption. The Feast is a Holy Day of Obligation. The Gospel reading is Luke 24: 36-53, telling us of Jesus’ appearance to the disciples and His ascension to Heaven. The final day of the Feast of the Ascension is Friday, May 22nd.
