Today we commemorate the English Monk St. Boniface, Bishop and Martyr, who is known as the Apostle of Germany. There he organized the Church in the 8th century by spreading Christianity among Franks and Saxons of northern Europe. As a youth, he joined a Benedictine monastery for schooling and became a monk while there. During his life he lived peacefully by studying, teaching, and praying. He was put to death by pagan warriors while baptizing converts in 290 A.D. in the reign of Deocletian, Emperor.
