NOV 8: COMMEMORATION OF THE ARCHANGEL MICHAEL & ALL ANGELS (SOLEMN HOLY DAY)

PROPERS: 11-08_Archangel_Michael_DL

Parishes live-streaming in the Diocese can be found here: https://www.eparchyofpassaic.com/livestream

Today we celebrate the holy archangel Michael (each year on November 8th) and all the angelic powers (“bodiless powers”) and recognize that God created the angels in advance of human beings, and that they have their own place in the divine plan. They serve as God’s messengers; help to protect us from evil; and intercede before God. Celebrate the Feast of St. Michael with “thanksgiving-like” foods.

The Gospel reading is Luke 10:16-22. We read “Anyone who listens to you listens to me; anyone who rejects you rejects me. And those who reject me reject the one who has sent me”. Thus, the disciples identify themselves with Jesus in the total gift and in this gift is realized their encounter with God, and God allows himself to be found by those who seek him through Jesus.
