Our Story

If you can’t visit this Market in Germany, come visit us! What started out as a small fund raiser at our parish has grown into a very popular community event that attracts thousands of visitors from across the Triangle and beyond. Held on our parish grounds the first nine years, the Market outgrew our small parish!  This will be our third year at the Holshouser Building at the State Fairgrounds with free admission and plenty of free parking. We’ve even been featured in “Our State” magazine as a unique Christmas experience in North Carolina and on WRAL’s Out and About as a “must see”.  Our Annual St. Nicholas European Christmas Market features food, decorative items, vintage linens, and handmade gifts celebrating the true meaning of Christmas around the world. Done in the tradition of a European Christmas Market, shoppers can shop each country (Poland, Ukraine, Slovakia, Germany, Scandinavia, France, and Ireland/British Isles) as well as our many popup vendors. Look for items like matryoshka dolls, Polish pottery, hand-carved Father Christmas and specialty items from Ukraine, Czech crystal, cashmere scarves from Scotland, German beer steins, Irish knit sweaters straight from Dublin, and tapestries and gnomes from Scandinavia – unique items you won’t find anywhere else that make treasured keepsakes or welcomed gifts. Friday evening features caroling and a visit from the real St. Nicholas and enjoy our hot, grilled, locally-made kielbasa. Enjoy a Slavic lunch while listening to the Little German Band on Saturday, followed by Irish step dancers, St. Nicholas, and other children’s activities. Take home delicious baked goods, dozens of piroghis, and pounds of kielbasa and enjoy Fortnight beers and traditional mulled wine and desserts throughout the market well.  Don’t miss the Market; let us be part of your holiday tradition. Our parish welcomes you and thanks you for your patronage.
