AUG 28: MOSES THE ETHIOPIAN VENERABLE – DIVINE LITURGY

AUG 28: VIGIL DIVINE LITURGY – 6:00 PM. St. Moses was a vandal in his youth & a servant in an Egyptian household. Due to bad behavior he was sent away & led a band of robbers. Since, he was a big man, tales were told that he “could swim the width of the Nile with stolen sheep on his shoulders.” During one of his thefts, he was chased by the law & decided to hide with some monks in the Egyptian desert. While there, he decided the monks’ way of life was a better way of life than thievery.  He decided to stay on to become a monk. Eventually, he was ordained a priest and became famous for his holiness and wisdom. When the Berbers invaded his area, he didn’t flee with the other monks & was slain with 6 disciples.
